Management controller, between strategy and results

At the intersecting point of forecasts, analysis and decision making, the management controller participates in preparing and following through Schneider Electric's objectives. A figures man, but also in touch with the field, he is at ease talking to all concerned parties.

Making data and figures talk

The Group's data and figures are totally familiar to the management controller! He uses them to carry out his various missions:

Anticipate.He participates in preparing company objectives for the Schneider Electric department or production unit which employs him. The level of production to reach, or the financial, human and technical resources to employ...The draft plan is drawn up in coordination with operational managers.

Control. Control panel, collecting and processing information enabling him to follow the evolution of results.

Analyse. He compares forecasts and results, and can prepare corrective action plans, if required, with the teams concerned.

Adjust. At the end of the process, he readjusts forecasts according to results. This is the role of the summary reports and corrective action recommendations that he sends to Management.

The different management controller positions

The industrial management controller is responsible for production costs, stock costs and return on investment.

The sales management controller works on sales forecasts; he analyses products'profitability.

The budget controller prepares budget forecasts and controls the results.

From computer to field

Immersed in finance and accounts, the management controller works essentially with computerised data and figures. But he also talks directly to a large number of interlocutors within the company and consultants, envisaging with them possible evolutions or corrective actions. This can involve him in regular travel.

Career propects

The management controller's functions can lead to the positions of Financial Director or Administrative and Financial Director.

Education and training 
• Non specialist training + training in accounting
or
• Business and management school
or
• Masters in economic sciences
Indispensable requirements:
- Fluent English
- Good computer skills
- Knowledge of French and English speaking accounting methods

Professional experience 
The applicant will have held a junior management position.

• Rigour, method and a sense of organisation
• Tact and a critical sense,
• The ability to animate a network and maintain an atmosphere of trust,
• Ability to convince and to be impartial,
